Signing the multilateral framework agreement that has establisheb the African Alliance for Vocational Training Development
The 18 April 2017 is a landmark date in terms of vocational training development, and exchange fo expertise, in the contexte of south-south partnership. A ministerial meeting was arranged under the presidency of Mr. Alpha CONDE, President of Guinea and the African Union.
15 African countries have established the African Alliance for Vocational Training Development, which falls in line with the Royals Instructions of His Majesty, that foster solidarity-based african cooperation.
The multilateral framework agreement was signed on 18 April 2017 in Meknès, during its 12th edition of the International Agricultural exhibition in Morocco. Another evidence of the irrevocable commitment of Morocco towards african countries.
14 African countries signed the African Alliance for Vocational Training Development, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Gabon, Guinea (Conakry), Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Togo, in addition to Morocco. This Alliance is supported by the Islamik Development Bank for (IDB), which had been represented in this ceremony by its President, Mr. Bandar M. H. AL HAJJAR.
The African Alliance for Vocational Training Development is the result of numerous discussions between 15 partners countries, in addition to the BID, and from the recommendations that came out of both preparatory committe held last March, and workshop works organized at the OFPPT on May 2016, that focused on « Triangular cooperation for the benefit of South South partnership ».
The African Alliance is dedicated to fostering synergies between vocational training systems of partners countries. Its provides a framework for knowledge and experience exchange, with the aim of improving the training programs, the skills of young people and the Businesses competitiveness. Which couldn’t be done without the support of the Islamik Development Bank.
Three key areas will be affected :
- Development and promotion of vocational training in the sectors considered as priorities by partner countries
- Experience and best practices exchange in the field
- Fund-raising from national and international bodies for funding projects
Regarding the governance aspect, The Alliance will consist of an Executive Comittee formed of a representative from each partner country and a representative from the Islamik Development Bank. The government's first-term presidency will be ensured by Morocco. It should be mentioned that the Permanent Secretariat will be based in Morocco.
